The engraver uses the same technique as the ancient masters, with the added advantage of modern gun architecture. First a scalpel and hammer are used to achieve a sculpted ornamentation, followed by stippling engraving of the plates to increase the contrast between the surface and background. Then a bulino and a 10X magnifying lens are used to produce microlines within the ornamentation, thereby giving a chiaroscuro effect and a soft, smooth engraving. Lastly the Beretta logo and other service scripts are inlaid with 24-carat gold using an ancient technique to enhance the beauty of this fine gun.
